Dr. Joe Stephenson is a medical oncologist who is board-certified in hematology and oncology. He is the Medical Director of the St. Luke's Cancer & Infusion Center in Columbus, NC, where he is passionate about delivering individualized, holistic care to his patients.

Dr. Stephenson attended the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Dr. Stephenson performed his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Also in Texas, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Texas San Antonio School of Medicine and the Cancer Therapy Research Center and the Director of the General Maxwell Thurman Drug Development Unit.

In 2000, Dr Stephenson accepted a position with the Cancer Center of the Carolinas (CCC). From 2003 to 2005, he served as CCC's Joint Policy Board president. Dr. Stephenson co-founded Translational Oncology Research (ITOR) at the Prisma Health Institute. He also served as an advisor to the President Bush's Cancer Panel on Translational Oncology.

Dr. Stephenson and his wife Nancy reside in Greenville, SC, and are members of the Buncombe Street Methodist Church in Greenville, where he supports youth ministries and Apologetics.
